NutriLuscious Cereal Recipe:
A #ParentingNerd Food Tip
By Manila Fashion Observer
For self-confessed #ParentingNerd like me, who can’t seem to stop reading parenting books, browsing blogs, comparing notes with fellow parents, and attending seminars, parenting is admittedly a continuous learning process. This does not stop at just raising, educating and disciplining kids. This goes down to something as basic and primal as health and nutrition of course. With two kids, I’m still picking up a few tricks along the way. Come and join me & Cerelac on this journey!
As a child, I loved scooping out warm Cerelac from my siblings’ feeding bowls. I’d sneak in a spoonful or two, three if I get lucky, because well, I loved the taste.
But did you know that while Cerelac tastes good on its own, and is packed with protein, iron, vitamin A and calories for energy throughout the day, you can make it even more delicious, simply by adding age appropriate fruits!
I’ve researched and found this yummy fruit based recipe with Cerelac that you can make in minutes. Knowing how I loved Cerelac then, and how people are obsessed about healthy eating now, I was excited to try Cerelac with real fruits for Xavi.
To keep this recipe varied, you could substitute other fruits or a different Cerelac variant. It’s an easy base to start with on your kid’s adventure into healthy eating!
Banana & Strawberry Pureé
• 1 tbsp mashed banana
• 1 tbsp strawberry pureé
• 3 tsp CERELAC Wheat Banana & Milk
• 1 tbsp cooled boiled water*
Steps:
Mash about two slices of banana in a bowl, then add a teaspoon of strawberry pureé.
Add the Cerelac and mix well, adding more liquid for a thinner consistency, if preferred.
Note:
- Feel free to substitute fruits such as avocados, pears, apricots, peaches, and apples in this recipe.
- You can also try Cerelac Rice & Soya, Mixed Fruits & Soya, or Cerelac Wheat & Cherry-Apple with Yogurt
If you have an older toddler like Xavi, who has a lot of teeth, you can introduce small, bite-size fruits instead of pureés.
He’ll also soon be ready for more sophisticated flavors, so start experimenting with different fruits like dragon fruit, pomelo, and berries. Remember to hold off on the sugar!
